When I arrived for the day it was pouring down. I walked the courses with an umbrella and still got soaked. The housing estate is far more "porous" than I had expected and, it seemed to me, that it had the potential to be a fine course.
Thankfully the rain eased off in the late morning and I think most runners had the same surprise over the quality of the running.
The compact nature of the course meant that there were plenty of competitors in close proximity. The addition of the "wafting" dibber made for some fast action at the controls.
